Week1 - Project Preparation

This week is the start of of year 2 project. Our project is called "Infrared and Visible Image Fusion". This is a hot topic right now and it can play an important role in many fields. It can produce a composite image which is more informative for human observation or computer vision tasks.

 

At the beginning, we collected the components at lab. To get our project on track, we will first divide the total projects to individual tasks which will greatly improve the efficiency and reduce the failare of this project.


We divided the total task to three groups - Project Manage/Circuit Build/Software Design.

Each group will focus on the different part of this project. I(Minyuan.Gu) will mainly responsible for overrall progress Project Management and be Technical Writer to update the blog each week. Yunfang.Hou, Feifan.Chen and Jingwu.Huang will be workig on the Software Design part of this project. Their job is mainly to find out a possible solution to combine the infrared picture with visible image with high resolution. Chengyang.Jiang and Lige.Dong will working on the Circuit Build part which is mainly focus on building and connect all components together and be read for software designers to use.


After the division of project is clarified, we agreed on the placement of the two cameras which will affect the subsequent image cropping and alignment issues in software level. And hopefully in next meeting we can run some test on Raspberry Pi with correct connection.


Problem found:

1. The interface of the thermal camera does not match the interface of the Raspberry Pi.

2. The picture took by thermal camera is smaller than the visible camera.

3. Raspberry Pi becomes white screen and cannot display the page normally.


Tasks for next week:

1. Use Raspberry Pi to take both thermal and visible picture. 2. Try to find the solution to combine the two kind of picture together. 3. Share the information of current finding(How to increase the resolution of the picture).
